Taking A Peek Inside Your Skin

Every single cell of it from the deepest layer through to the top-most layer, is replaced by new cells in a three week period of time. This means that twenty-one days from now, you'll be wearing a brand new birthday suit.
This picture shows mainly the epidermis, your outer layer, and the dermis -the deepest layer. The lighter pink part not listed in between the epidermis and dermis of course is the hypodermis. Just to be clear, you do not shed entire layers of skin. You shed the skin cells. You get the idea, right?
Did you know you have two types of different skin on your body? The two types of skin: hairy and glabrous. Glabrous skin is the skin on your lips, the soles of your feet and the palms of your hands. Hairy skin is found everywhere else, although the amount of hair produced will vary
.
The skin is also an organ. It's actually the largest organ in the body. It is quite an interesting mechanism. That being said there are many things that we do or don't do every day that can help or hinder the skin. Some things we can help and others we cannot, such as the affects of weather , environmental issues such as toxins in the air, manmade pollutants, smog, and debris in the air and surroundings. That's a lot! We may not be able to totally change our environment or place we live, but we can do things to keep our system working well to get rid of much that we take in. We can protect our skin and maintain a level of optimum health considering all things.
So I hope you've enjoyed this little peek into how your skin works and looks and we'll be posting more in a new series of posts!
Til Next time...
Cheers!
